Edmund Burke, MD selected as the 2011 MN-AAP Distinguished Service Award Recipient
Dr. Burke excelled in his field caring for children across Minnesota and the nation as a specialist at Mayo Clinic. He retired as professor of pediatrics at Mayo Medical School in 1986 and has remained an active member of the community. During his career he was elected chairman of AAP District VI as well as president and secretary of MN-AAP. He also served as editor-in-chief of Minnesota Medicine. In retirement, he wrote a regular column for the Rochester Post-Bulletin, advocating for health literacy of parents and others who care for children and teens. Dr. Burke was the father of nine children.
