Minnesota Statistics & Reports

Minnesota is home to 1.3 million children and youth under the age of 18, comprising 23 percent of the state’s population. About 1 in 5 children live in families receiving medical or public assistance. Although Minnesota ranks among the top states for health and education outcomes, major disparities persist for children of color.
