- The 2017 legislative session began at noon on January 3 in a beautifully renovated Capitol Building. Amid calls for cooperation and bipartisanship, the DFL Governor and newly empowered legislative Republicans began the work of the 2017 session. Health care is likely to be a key topic, particularly early in the session, as lawmakers grapple with how to provide relief to those individuals and families seeing eye-popping premium and deductible increases.
- With uncertainty in both Washington, DC and St. Paul, MNAAP leadership and policy committee members have selected access to care as its chief legislative priority for 2017. As such, the MNAAP will advocate for coverage and access to quality health care services for all of Minnesota’s children and adolescents, including mental health care, health care home access, prenatal health services, and other important access issues.
- Make plans to join pediatricians and pediatricians-in-training for the annual Pediatricians Day at the Capitol. A day of education, advocacy, and fellowship, the event is set for March 21. Registration and additional information can be found here.
