Minnesota Receives Top Grade for Newborn Screening

February 10, 2020

The National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. (NORD) has identified Minnesota as one of four states to receive a grade A for newborn screening, according to a recent post by the Minnesota Department of Health.

States were graded on the number of RUSP (Recommended Uniform Screening Panel) conditions included on their screening panel, how RUSP conditions are added, program funding, use of dried blood spots, follow-up program, program and laboratory quality, and an advisory committee comprised of a diverse group of experts.
