In Minnesota...

  • In Minnesota, 23 percent of children ages 10-17 are overweight or obese (NICHQ)

  • Of the 23 percent of children who are overweight or obese, 48 percent are on pulic insurance and 18 percent are on private insurance (NICHQ)

  • About 6 percent of children ages 1-17 engage in 4 or more hours of screen time per day NICHQ)

  • In 2007, 12 percent of ninth grade males in Minnesota were obese (MDH)

  • When sixth grade students in Minnesota were asked if they had eaten five or more servings of fruits and vegetables yesterday, 80 percent said no (MDH)
