Mission of the Resident's Section

The American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Residents was established in 1989 to provide pediatricians in training an opportunity to participate in the organization. In addition to the national section, each chapter and district of the AAP is encouraged to facilitate local representation.

The mission of the Residents' Section is to:

  • foster early involvement and leadership in the Academy,
  • provide educational resources to members,
  • promote a forum for in-training issues,

  • encourage community service and research programs that will benefit the children of Minnesota,

  • and facilitate interaction with other pediatricians-in-training - as well as communication with local and national Academy membership.

The Resident's Section of the MNAAP provides a free classified section designed to allow residents seeking practice positions to advertise on this web site. Additionally, practices seeking graduating residents may also advertise on this web site.

Your Resident Representatives at the AAP, District VI, and the MNAAP Board of Directors are:

Scott Schwantes, District Coordinator, District VI of the AAP, (U of M Peds Program)

Jonathan Johnson, Assistant District Coordinator, District VI of the AAP, (Mayo Peds Program)

Yi Catherine Chang, Program Delegate, U of M Peds Program

Barbara Burkhardt, Program Delegate, Mayo Peds Program
