Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan earlier this week announced proposals to support Minnesota children and families in their supplemental budget recommendations for the upcoming legislative session. The proposal aims to make investments in schools, child care, and paid family and medical leave.
In response to these recommendations, MNAAP President Sheldon Berkowitz, MD, FAAP, applauded the plans, stating, “The Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly supports Governor Walz’s proposed investments in the health and wellbeing of our state’s children and youth. This bold package of initiatives strives for equity and addresses child and youth mental health, access to health care, and early childhood education and care, all priorities identified by Minnesota’s pediatricians.”
